Our tea menu & a little more about us

Why did an artist & a songwriter launch a tea business in the Hebrides?

Tea is one of the first things we discussed on our first date - over 14 years ago. I was born in Yorkshire so will always have a soft spot for Taylors of Harrogate and Nik being a geordie grew up loyal to Ringtons.

I realised the road to launching 'In the Hebrides’ and a range of speciality tea blends on the Isle of Mull began over a decade ago. We lived in Brighton for a few years, where I enjoyed working part time in a loose leaf tea shop, I was trained by a tea connoisseur, who's enthusiasm for quality tea was contagious. Since then, me and my partner Nik have continued to learn more and began concocting our own blends - growing our own lemon balm, self heal & chamomile in containers. We swopped our over stimulating 2nd cup of coffee for a nourishing cup of organic tea, which led to our waxing and waning blends; we believe they provide an alternative that align with a slower more sustainable quality of life. Until we secure our own croft and have cultivated enough plants in our own tea garden to share commercially, we have procured the finest organic ingredients for our blends. Browse options in our online shop here.

If you are visiting the isle of Mull - our speciality teas are available in the lovely Old postoffice tearoom & shop in Lochbuie, we intend to announce some new stockists soon.

Why are our blends unique?

We spent years experimenting with our blends, adding a little bit of this and little less of that, until we found our favourite balance of flavours and health promoting qualities. We also only use certified organic ingredients in our loose leaf blends and promote plastic free, unbleached teabags.

How many newsletters do you send?

Subscribers will receive 2-3 newsletters via email this year - in sync with the changing seasons. Each one will be brimming with exclusive offers, tea tips, plant-lore & updates from the organic tea garden we are cultivating. I also intend to write a few articles on substack - which highlight some local folklore.

Our soothing lemon balm bliss or energizing tulsi twist contain powerful adaptogens (particularly good for stress & anxiety). Our elderberry blend is also a blessing if you find yourself feeling flat or run down. The letterbox tea set is a wonderful Valentines day treat, as 10g samples = approx 10 cups are ideal if you would like to try each blend.

It would be lovely to hear your thoughts on our tea menu and if you have any questions please do get in touch,

Thanks for being here,

Melissa & Nik
